BYU football: Cougars announce games with San Diego State and McNeese State
BYU football announced today that it has scheduled future games with San Diego State and McNeese State.
BYU football has scheduled former Mountain West Conference opponent San Diego State and the Southland Conference’s McNeese State.
The Cougars will meet SDSU in San Diego on Nov. 30, 2019. The Aztecs will come to Provo on Nov. 14, 2020. McNeese State will come to LaVell Edwards Stadium during the 2018 season. The game with either be on Sept. 22 or Oct. 13.
“We’re pleased to announce a new series with San Diego State and well as a first-time matchup with McNeese State,” BYU Athletic Director Tom Holmoe said in a press release. “We’re excited to renew our strong history with San Diego State in a series that has included many incredible games over the years. We also look forward to hosting McNeese State in Provo.”
BYU football leads the all-time series against SDSU 28-7-1. The two schools have clashed once since BYU became Independent – the 2012 Poinsettia Bowl. The Cougars won the game 23-6 behind Kyle Van Noy‘s two touchdowns.
SDSU has made a bowl game in each of the last six seasons and have won three Mountain West titles in that span. The Aztecs are 22-6 over the last two years.
McNeese State is 431-252-13 all-time. The Cowboys defeated South Florida 53-21 in 2013, grabbing national headlines. McNeese State has a winning record in each of the last 12 seasons and was FCS runner-up in 1997 and 2002.
BYU will begin spring practices at the end of the month.
