BYU legend Steve Young talks Tanner Mangum, Taysom Hill

It's been an eventful season for the BYU football team. They've lost a host of players, including starting QB Taysom Hill, and several others. Tanner Mangum has become a cult-hero of sorts thanks to his late-game heroics.

So what does one of BYU's greatest ever think about all of this madness?

Starting with Hill's injury, Young was especially dissappointed. He had high hopes for BYU's original starter.

“I turned to whoever I was watching the game with and said, ‘This kid could win a Heisman,'” Young recalled. “He’s gotten so much better and improved his game so much.”

Ultimately, Young still thinks Hill has an NFL future despite his brutal history of injuries.

“I think he’s too dynamic not to try,” he said of whether he thinks Hill would try to declare for the NFL draft. “I think he’d always wonder about being hurt. And (the injury) won’t keep him from having an opportunity. He was too dynamic for someone not to give him a shot.”
