BYU's Mangum leads big fourth-quarter rally to beat Cincinnati

PROVO, Utah — Tanner Mangum threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns and BYU scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter to beat Cincinnati 38-24 on Friday night.

Down 17-3 late in the first half, BYU (5-2) tied it at 24 in the fourth quarter on Algernon Brown's 2-yard run. Francis Bernard set up the touchdown with a 40-yard run.

The Cougars took their first lead on the first play of their next possession. Mangum found Nick Kurtz wide open down the field for a 53-yard touchdown strike. After Cincinnati's second straight three-and-out, Garrett Juergens returned a punt 39 yards and Bernard capped the drive with an 11-yard scoring run.

Brown ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and Kurtz had 119 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Tion Green had a rushing touchdown and his first career scoring pass for Cincinnati (3-3). Hayden Moore was sacked eight times.
