Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

LSU interim head coach Ed Orgeron has brought what was a struggling Tiger team back to relevancy in just three games. The Tigers are back in both the conference and national championship pictures, and the team’s recent success has set up a massive showdown with the number-one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide next Saturday.

Earlier today, Coach O was giving a speech to the New Orleans Quarterback Club, and wrapped up his talk with a very simple answer to the question of whether or not this LSU team can hang with Alabama.

If there is any team on Alabama’s schedule that can give the Tide a run for their money, it’s this LSU Tigers squad. Ed Orgeron’s team is one of the top in all of college football from a talent perspective, and they have proven over the last month or so that with proper coaching, there aren’t many teams in the country that can compete with them.

Against Ole Miss, the team LSU played this past Saturday, Alabama won by a very slim five-point margin and allowed 43 points. Against the Tigers, the Rebels only posted 21 points and fell by a wide 17-point difference.

Ed Orgeron has done a lot for this team, as he has made some vital adjustments to the way they play offensively. He has proven to be a fantastic leader, and he will undoubtedly have his guys ready to go for LSU’s November 5th meeting with Alabama.
