Can Washington's defense slow down Cal's potent offense again?

Published Sep. 23, 2015 2:31 p.m. ET

Washington's defense played perhaps its best game of the season in a 31-7 win over Cal in Berkeley last year. This year, the defense is looking for a repeat performance.

Cal's offense is undoubtably one of the most prolific in college football and it is led by perhaps the nation's best QB in Jared Goff. Goff has thrown nine touchdowns this year and his team has averaged 51 points per game. The Bears also lead the Pac-12 in big plays, having posted 18 plays of 20+ yards through three games.

However, the Huskies did a great job of limiting big plays against Cal last year and are tops in the Pac-12 in that category this season, having only allowed six plays of 20 yards or more through three games.

Whichever side dictates play in this matchup could be walking away with a victory on Saturday.
