Cardinal losing the turnover battle, winning games
Stanford head coach David Shaw would like to see the Cardinal force more turnovers. However, the team has built a 4-1 record without much help from takeaways.
The Cardinal have turned the ball over four times this season and have only forced three turnovers. Shaw says the turnover margin is a point of emphasis going forward.
"There are times when we make our games hard by not taking advantage of the (takeaway) opportunities we have. We drop too many interceptions. Not enough fumbles. We’d love to get a pick-six or a scoop-and-score for a touchdown. Those things have eluded us.’’
Shaw added that the lack of turnovers and the turnover margin does concern him.
“It concerns me because it’s hard to go all that distance ... every time you need points.’’
