Christian McCaffrey wins Hornung Award as nation's most-versatile player

Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey has won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation's most versatile player.

The sophomore sensation scored touchdowns as a runner, receiving, returner and quarterback this season, in addition to breaking Barry Sanders' single-season record for all-purpose yards.

McCaffrey has also been named the Pac-12's offensive player of the year and the Pac-12 Championship game MVP this season. He is a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded on Saturday.

"I am beyond blessed and humbled to be named the Paul Hornung Award winner," said McCaffrey, per Palo Alto Online. "To be mentioned in the same breath with the award's previous winners and Mr. Hornung, one of most versatile players ever to play the sport, is incredible. This honor is a testament to all the efforts and support of my teammates, coaches, staff and the entire Stanford football program."
