Class of 2019 Hawkins cornerback Brandon Jones interested in Arizona Football
Sometimes you come across a story too good to pass up. Augustus Hawkins freshman varsity cornerback Brandon Jones is one of those stories.
Deep in downtown Los Angeles, you will find the rather new and impressive Augustus Hawkin’s High school; a beacon for young talented football players who want to reach the next level and get a great education.
Hawkins is home to several highly rated NCAA Division one commits and recruits such as Arizona cornerback commit Greg Johnson, and wide receivers recruits Jalen Hall and Joseph Lewis.
Cornerback Brandon Jones tried out for the football team and made varsity in his freshman year! Jones is mature, intelligent and a heck of a football player. While watching practice, and he goes up against some of the nation’s best recievers in the nation at Hawkins, he broke up a pass to Jalen Hall. I had to take my finger and push my jaw up and close my mouth.
Interviewing this young man and his coach was a pleasure. I agree with his Coach Ed, Brandon is the next big thing! I asked him several times what his dream schools were and guess what popped out totally unprovoked?

Brandon Jones goes by a couple of different nicknames. His team calls him BJ, and his uncle calls him Glue. Kinda like Glue, says a lot about this young man’s personality and hopefully, it means also that the ball sticks to Brandon’s hands like glue.
The Hawkins Boys, as Johnson calls them, are an extremely close group. Their schools is small, and they get support from counselors, coaches, teachers and their parents. Brandon’s father was a joy to speak to, he attends his son’s practices, his youngest son of four children.
Here are some highlights from his game against Locke High School several weeks ago. Hawkins record is 7-0, and all the Arizona Recruits told me they predict they will go undefeated and win the championship.

Whether Brandon Jones gets an offer from Arizona or not, he is sure to be getting dozens of offers just like his teammates. We wish BJ an enjoyable recruiting process and hope he and his teammate’s prediction of going undefeated this season becomes a reality. Somehow I think there is like a 99 percent chance they will.
