Clemson Football: Preview and staff picks vs N.C. State
Clemson football will have a tough test against NC State, who has put together a solid program, but Clemson’s metrics have them beaten at every turn.
Clemson vs. NC State Game Predictions and Preview
When: Saturday, Oct. 15 – Noon ET
Where: Memorial Stadium, Clemson, SC
TV Broadcast: ABC
The Clemson Tigers (6-0, 3-0 ACC) are coming off a rout of Boston College last Friday night. The Tigers outplayed the Eagles at every turn and beat BC by 46 points. The Tigers now boast a conference win streak of 12 games and their road win streak of eight games. This matches a school record set from 1978-79.
The NC State Wolfpack (4-1, 1-0) beat Notre Dame 10-3 last Saturday in a low-scoring snoozefest. The Wolfpack scored the games single touchdown with 12:43 remaining. The ‘Pack defense was the star of this game; they held the Irish to 113 total yards.
In last year’s game, Tigers QB Deshaun Watson scored six touchdowns in a 56-41 win. In the series, Clemson is 55-28-1 against the Wolfpack.
Clemson Information
Despite a slow start this season, Watson and the offense are firing on all cylinders. They look like the 2015 team that gave Alabama its best game all season in the national title match. The defense is better than expected-they rank No. 9 in the FBS in total defense at 282.2 yards per game.
NC State Information
The Wolfpack offense is solid. Last week’s performance is moot as the conditions were execrable. The Pack have scored 30 points or more against every other opponent this season, and QB Findley has a 72 percent completion rate. They gave Clemson a game last season-at least for the first half. The Wolfpack should at least give the Tigers a scare, but Clemson will win this one handily.
