On Monday Clemson scored a commitment from five-star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who announced his decision in the auditorium of Wake Forest High School in North Carolina.

Lawrence, a 6-5, 335-pound senior, is rated the No. 4 overall prospect in the class of 2016 by 247Sports and is in just about everyone’s national top 10 list.

The all-American DT held offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn and Ohio State, but on Monday signed a financial aid agreement with Clemson, much to the delight of Tigers’ head coach Dabo Swinney.

"I can't wait for spring practice to get here," Swinney told Tigernet. "He is an unbelievable talent. He is our kind of guy. He will show up here as a mid-year and be ready to go. This is Christmas coming early."

Lawson wrapped up his senior year at Wake Forest tallying 91 tackles, 13 sacks and 21 tackles for a loss.

Clemson, the top seed in the College Football Playoffs, will be back in action on Dec. 31 when it faces No. 4 Oklahoma in the semifinal round of the playoffs in the Orange Bowl.
