Clemson student's body found near Memorial Stadium

On Tuesday the body of a Clemson student was discovered behind Memorial Stadium, which has sparked an investigation by local authorities.

It is suspected that 18-year old freshman business major, Michael Joseph Allen, a native of Dunwoody, Ga., died as a result of a fall the stands. The police do not suspect foul play at the moment.

"There is no threat to the campus," Clemson University Police Chief Eric Hendricks said in a statement, which was published by FOX Carolina.

Almeda Jacks, Clemson’s vice president for Student Affairs, sent out a statement extending thoughts and prayers to Allen's family and friends.

Per FOX Carolina:

"Our hearts go out to the Allen family, friends and his fellow classmates. A death is always hard, for it impacts us all, but even more difficult at this time of year. We send our thoughts and prayers out for the loss of this member of our Clemson family."
