Clemson, UNC lead ACC weekly honors

After leading North Carolina in passing, rushing and receiving during its 38-31 come-from-behind victory over Georgia Tech, it’s no surprise that Tar Heels quarterback Marquise Williams was named the ACC Offensive Back of the Week.

Williams rushed for a career-high 148 yards and three touchdowns, threw for 134 yards and a caught a 37-yard pass for the go-ahead score against the Yellow Jackets.

Williams’ effort helped the Tar Heels erase a 21-point deficit, making it the biggest comeback in school history.

Williams’ teammate, Caleb Peterson, was named the Offensive Lineman of the Week, which allowed the Tar Heels to tie Clemson for the most honorees.

Peterson, a 6-5, 300-pound guard, posted a career-high 13 pancake blocks against Georgia Tech.

Clemson’s Kevin Dodd racked up six tackles and 3.5 tackles for a loss, two of which were sacks, during the Tigers 24-22 victory over Notre Dame to be named the defensive lineman of the week.

Clemson linebacker B.J. Goodson earned linebacker of the week honors after he tallied five tackles and an interception, while recovering a fumble against the Fighting Irish.

Wake Forest tight end Cam Serigne pulled in 10 passes for 83 yards and touchdown during the Deacons loss to FSU and was named the receiver of the week.

Florida State’s Trey Marshall and Pitt’s Terrish Webb were named co-defensive backs of the week after their outstanding performances this weekend.

Marshall led FSU with 11 tackles during the Seminoles 24-16 win over Wake Forest, while Webb picked off one pass and had four tackles to help the Panthers down Virginia Tech, 17-13.

Duke kicker Ross Martin was the specialist of the week after he hit field goals of 36, 38 and 53 yards to power the Blue Devils past Boston College, 9-7. Martin’s 53-yard field goal matched his career high.

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson earned rookie of the week honors for the second time this season when he rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown and threw for 103 yards and a score during the Cards 20-13 win over N.C. State.
