Clemson's Alexander: 'I'm the best corner in college. It's not even close'
There are a lot of premier cornerbacks in college football this season, but according to Clemson’s Mackensie Alexander none are on his level.
On Wednesday, the redshirt sophomore proclaimed he is “the best corner in college. It’s not even close.”
Last year, the 5-foot-10, 190-pounder had a strong freshman season and was named a first-team freshman all-American by the FWAA and broke the Tigers record for snaps played by a freshman.
However, with DBs such as Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey, Virginia Tech’s Kendall Fuller and Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves III back for another year, some would argue that Alexander has a ways to go before claiming the top spot.
During the ACC Football Kickoff, Alexander was named to the preseason all-ACC second-team, behind Ramsey and Fuller.
Obviously, Alexander disagreed with the voters.
“In my opinion it’s not even close,” Alexander told reporters. “I think every guy that talks about Mackensie knows I’m the best corner in college. It’s not even close.”
