Clemson's defensive coordinator raves about freshmen class
In 2014 Clemson fielded what was arguably the best defense in the country as it led the nation in total defense (260.8 ypg) and was third in points allowed per game (16.7).
This year, that defense will be without stars Vic Beasley, Stephone Anthony and Grady Jarrett, but it might not take too long for new stars to rise.
Over the weekend Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables gushed about the Tigers incoming crop of freshman.
“I think we hit it,” Venables told Clemson Insider. “You obviously don’t always feel that way, but we really feel like we hit it with all of those guys. Sometimes you think it is just coach speak, but they all like to work and they’re all coachable.”
If so, Clemson dreams of a College Football Playoff berth just might become a reality.
