Colgate tops Georgetown 35-10, claims share of Patriot title (Nov 18, 2017)
WASHINGTON (AP) Grant Breneman threw three touchdown passes to Thomas Ives on Colgate's road back from a 10-0 deficit to beat Georgetown, 35-10 to claim a share of the Patriot League championship Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders finished the regular season on a five-game win streak to claim their ninth conference title, outscoring opponents 185-32 over that stretch. Colgate finishes tied with Lehigh, both with 5-1 league records, but the Mountain Hawks, who beat Lafayette 38-31, earn the conference's automatic berth in the FCS playoffs.
Breneman, named this week to the Jerry Rice Award watch list of the nation's top freshmen, hit Ives on touchdowns of 2-, 19- and 3-yards, the last coming with :15 left in the game.
Breneman finished 16 of 23 for 137 yards. Malik Twyman carried 13 times for 108 yards.
Colgate (7-4) can still make the FCS playoffs with an at-large bid.
