College football Week 8 odds: Betting lines for biggest matchups

The Miami Hurricanes are 3–2 straight up and 4–1 against the spread in their last five games against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Hurricanes will try to pick up their third straight win in the series this Thursday night in Blacksburg.

Miami is a four-point road underdog on the college football lines at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Both teams have historically enjoyed success in Thursday games, with Virginia Tech going 21–9 SU in its last 30 games played on Thursday and Miami going 21–3 SU in its last 24.

The Hokies are 6–1–1 ATS in their last eight games coming off consecutive home wins. Miami is 6–1 ATS in its last seven games after a loss.

The top spot in the SEC West will be on the line Saturday when the Texas A&M Aggies visit the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama enters the showdown with a 7–0 SU and 5–2 ATS record, while Texas A&M isn’t far behind with a 6–0 SU and 4–2 ATS mark.

The Crimson Tide have won their last 19 games, and come into this home game as 16.5-point favorites. The Aggies have lost three straight to Alabama.

In another interesting matchup in the SEC West on Saturday, the LSU Tigers are six-point favorites at home against the Ole Miss Rebels. Since firing head coach Les Miles after a disappointing 2–2 SU and 0–4 ATS start, the Tigers are 2–0 SU and ATS and have outscored their opponents 87–17 under interim coach Ed Orgeron.

LSU is 9–0 SU and 8–1 ATS in its last nine games played in the month of October per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Two of the most explosive offenses in the country collide on Saturday when the Texas Tech Red Raiders host the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas Tech ranks fifth in the nation in scoring offense with 48.8 points per game, slightly ahead of Oklahoma at 16th with 40.2 points per game.

The visiting team is 3–9 SU in the last 12 games in this series and 2–8 ATS in the last 10 games. Oklahoma is a 14-point road favorite for the matchup.
