Colorado Football: Mike MacIntyre named AP Coach of the Year

Add another piece of hardware to the collection for Colorado Buffaloes head coach Mike MacIntyre, who was named as the AP national Coach of the year on Thursday, as reported by the Denver Post.

MacIntyre has been rewarded handsomely for guiding the Buffs to a 10-3 record and a spot in the Pac-12 Championship game, also winning the Walter Camp Coach of the Year award, the Home Depot Coach of the Year award and the Pac-12 Coach of the Year.

“I’m honored and privileged to be the recipient of both the AP Coach of the Year and the Eddie Robinson Award. It is a testament to our players and coaches for all their hard work and dedication. It is an honor to accept these awards on behalf of our team, our coaches and our fans”, said MacIntyre.

The Buffs story has been a remarkable one this season. After going 2-25 in the Pac-12 conference in his previous three seasons at the school, MacIntyre led the team to a Pac-12 South title this season, to the surprise of pretty much all of the experts.

Naturally, MacIntyre’s name has been tossed around in the annual coaching carousel, but hopefully for Buffs fans, we can keep him in Boulder for some time to come. Currently, he’s under contract with Colorado through the 2018 season. However, if the university is smart, they’ll extend that soon.

Congrats on the honor to coach MacIntyre. That said, if we know our coach, we know that he’d trade all of those awards for a win over Oklahoma State in the Alamo Bowl. tyre
