Georgia Southern has named Colorado State defensive coordinator Tyson Summers its new football coach.

A source told FOX Sports Sunday afternoon that the hire would be made.

Summers spent a season at Georgia Southern in 2006 as the team's safeties coach before taking jobs at UAB, UCF and then at CSU. He will replace Willie Fritz, who left to become the head coach at Tulane.

FB Scoop was the first to report the Summers hire.
