Compton gets long-awaited nod for College Hall of Fame ballot

Former West Virginia center Mike Compton, a two-time All-Big East selection and a consensus First Team All-American and a Lombardi Trophy finalist, is one of 76 former players on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2016.

The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame on Tuesday announced the names on the 2016 ballot for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. The announcement of the 2016 Class will be made Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.

Compton dominated his position during the 1991 and 1992 seasons.

A third-round draft pick by the Detroit Lions in 1993, Compton went on to win two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots.
