Connor Cook nominated for prestigious Big Ten award
Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook has already had a historic run in East Lansing, winning more games than any of his predecessors for the Green and White.
He can make more history if he takes home the Chicago Tribune Silver Football later this month.
That is something no Spartan quarterback has ever done. In fact, the last Michigan State player to win the award, which goes to the Big Ten's most valuable player, was tailback Lorenzo White in 1987.
The other two previous winners for MSU are halfback Eric Allen in 1971 and defensive tackle Larry Bethea in 1977.
Cook has already been named first-team All-Big Ten and the conference quarterback of the year.
The other finalists are Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard and Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott.
