Cook on verge of breaking FSU's single-season rushing record
All season long Dalvin Cook has been driving force behind the Florida State offense, and now he’s racing to the top of the school’s record books.
The 6-0, 203-pound sophomore has racked up 1,231 rushing yards this season and enters Saturday’s matchup between No. 16 FSU (7-2, 5-2) and N.C. State (6-3, 2-3) only 12 yards away from breaking the Seminoles single-season rushing record of 1,242 yards set by Warrick Dunn in 1995.
“He is a tremendous individual talent who has done tremendous things,” FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher said of Cook. “He's one of the best, if not the best, in America. There's no doubt about that. If you go back and look, he's made some amazing runs. That guy's got chance to put points on the board every time he touches it.”
The shifty sophomore running back leads the ACC in rushing and is ranked second in the nation in rushing yards per game (153.9) and yards per carry (8.3).
Cook also lead the nation with six runs of 50 yards or better and ranks fifth in the FBS in total yards per game (177.0).
