Cornerback Kevin Peterson expected back against Kansas after suffering ankle injury

Published Oct. 13, 2015 8:42 p.m. ET

Cornerback Kevin Peterson is a key cog in the Oklahoma State defense, and after suffering an ankle injury in the second half of Oklahoma State's overtime win against West Virginia, he'll have some time to rest up.

The Cowboys have a bye this week, and the following week, they'll take on Big 12 bottom feeder Kansas. The Pokes probably won't need him in order to beat the Jayhawks, to be frank, but he's expected to return by then.

"He will practice the latter part of this week and he'll be fine," OSU coach Mike Gundy said Monday on the Big 12 coaches teleconference call. "It's not an injury that's going to keep him out of the game."

The contest against 0-5 Kansas will be Oklahoma State's homecoming contest.
