Could Barry Odom be Missouri's next head coach?
When looking at the best potential candidate for Missouri's vacant head coaching job, the best guy for job may already be on the current staff.
Defensive coordinator Barry Odom has been the architect for Missouri's incredibly impressive defense. He was a player in Columbia during the '90's, and knows the program incredibly well. A transition from Gary Pinkel to Odom wouldn't appear to be an overly tough one.
"I'm going to be a head coach," Odom told the Columbia Daily Tribune. "Don't know where, don't know when, but that's what I want to do. Eventually, some day, I want to be the best head coach there is."
Former Missouri wide receiver T.J. Moe has been ardently championing for Odom to get the gig on social media. Missouri fans could see Odom as the head coach -- with famed (and beloved) defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski promoted to defensive coordinator.
As for now, there's no doubt Odom would have considerable interest in the job.
"I really won't let my mind go there. But yeah, it'd be such a great opportunity to represent this athletic program, the university, and the state," said Odom. "That'd be awesome, no question."

I'm on day 4 of a fake hunger strike to get Barry Odom hired as Mizzou's next HC. I'm practically withering away https://t.co/iBD0n30Q1h
