Cousins tweaks Michigan on spring game attendance

Great rivalries never sleep, and Michigan-Michigan State is once again proving that to be the case.

The latest example comes from former Spartans quarterback Kirk Cousins, who according to MLive.com fired a shot at the Wolverines during the Big Ten Network's broadcast of the MSU spring game over the weekend.

"There's a lot going on here, and I think we're starting to paint this state of Michigan green,'' Cousins said, per MLive.com "The weather's not perfect, but the fact there is this much of a turnout is exciting. I think it says a lot about the program and the success they have had the last couple of seasons,'' Cousins said. "It's not like it's 70 and sunny. You wonder how many more people would have showed had it been even better weather.''

It is fair to ask that question, just as it is fair to point out Michigan's reported spring game crowd was 12,000 more than the 48,000 who turned out at Spartan Stadium.

According to figures compiled by CollegeFootballTalk, Michigan State ranked eighth in the country in spring game attendance while Michigan checked in at No. 7.
