Dan Mullen had a rough week with a couple of personal injuries.

Apparently Coach Mullen had to get seven staples in his head after hitting the new metal canopy that covers the sideline benches.

You may have noticed those metal canopies that were installed on the sidelines. You may have also noticed that Coach Mullen was wearing a visor in the first half and a baseball cap in the second half. I thought that was odd since he always wears a visor.

I also thought it was odd he was wearing a baseball cap to the press conference too. I had figured he just lost his visor during halftime or something, but would’ve grabbed a new one. But I guess now we know why he switched.

Mullen also cut his nose during practice this week. He referenced it this morning during his appearance on SEC Nation saying things got a little intense and he tried to motivate his team.

It was certainly a rough week for Mullen as he experienced the worst loss of his tenure, and got a couple of lacerations too. Things may have started a little better for Week 2, however, as a good crowd was on hand for the SEC Nation broadcast, and cheered Mullen on.

During the interview, Mullen expressed how hard the team worked this week and tried to focus on going as hard as they possibly could on every play. He intimated that this is a rebuilding year since last year’s team lost so much including early draft entrants which has left the 2016 team with players having to jump into rolls they may not be ready for.

Excuse? No, I think it’s the truth. Still shouldn’t have lost to USA, but hopefully that lit a fire under the team that will propel them to a couple of victories they might not have otherwise had.
