Dantonio 'did a better job than I ever did' at MSU according to Saban
Mark Dantonio has taken the program to unprecedented heights since assuming the role as Michigan State's head coach in 2007.
During his nine-year tenure, Dantonio has accrued five seasons with at least 11 wins, four bowl victories, and three conference titles. He's effectively turned a middling program into a national powerhouse in under a decade.
Not only are the fans of East Lansing thrilled with this development, but Dantonio has also made a fan out of Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
Dantonio was the defensive backs coach at MSU when Saban was the head coach. Alabama's current head man bolted to LSU in 2000 -- never achieving the same sort of success Dantonio has in Spartan land. On Monday, he echoed that statement further.
"I think Mark had exceeded the expectations of all of us in terms of what he's done at Michigan State, and certainly done a better job than I ever did there, I can tell you that," said Saban.
With Michigan State leapfrogging Oklahoma in the final installment of the College Football Playoff rankings, Dantonio and Saban's teams will square off in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 31.
