David Shaw is 'excited' about where team is, says there's 'room to improve'

The Stanford Cardinal bounced back from a difficult season opening loss to Northwestern by beating UCF 31-7 on Saturday. Now, as the Cardinal prepare to take on USC, head coach David Shaw says he's happy about where his team is at.

"I'm excited about where we are right now,'' Shaw said, "But I think we have so much room to improve. If we can play cleaner, we can be even better. That's what our charge is this week."

As for his offense, Shaw says he likes the approach and sees potential in some of his younger players.

"I think we've got a good approach, and we're getting to know the team,'' Shaw said. "I'm excited about the explosive ability of some of the young guys.''
