Defense shines in Bryant's 21-20 win over Duquesne

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Price Wilson threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Alex Rasmussen to give Bryant the lead and an opportunistic defense helped the Bulldogs edge Duquesne 21-20 on Saturday.

Wilson found Rasmussen alone in the end zone with a minute left in the third quarter for his 14th TD pass this season. It was the first TD catch for Rasmussen, a junior. Bryant (4-1, 2-0 Northeast) had a nearly six-minute drive in the fourth quarter that left the Dukes at their own 20 where they managed only 5 yards on their final possession.

Bryant's Tomas Wright created a fumble and Robert Brown returned it 46 yards for a second-quarter score. Wright had three sacks, 4½ tackles for loss and two pass breakups while Tomas Costigan led with six solo tackles plus two sacks. Turnovers ended three Duquesne (3-3, 0-1) drives in the red zone.

Daniel Parr threw for two touchdowns with Nehari Crawford collecting 113 yards receiving for Duquesne.

The game was delayed for 1 hour, 20 minutes because of lightning in the second quarter.

Duquesne was mourning the death of running back Marquis Brown, a junior from Washington, D.C. University. Officials say Brown killed himself on Thursday night. A memorial service was planned for Sunday night on campus.
