Deshaun Watson denies taking a jab at Lamar Jackson's Heisman win
Deshaun Watson insists he isn’t bitter about finishing as the runner-up to Lamar Jackson in the 2016 Heisman Trophy voting – and says he wasn’t taking a cheap shot at the Louisville QB in a recent interview.
Watson, of course, ultimately added an even bigger prize to his trophy case when he was named co-MVP in Clemson’s national championship game win over Alabama. But he still raised some eyebrows during his appearance on ESPN’s “Gruden’s QB Camp.”

After Jon Gruden ran through Watson’s impressive body of work from the 2016 season, he asked Watson what it takes to win the Heisman. Watson’s response: “I’m not sure. I guess lose a couple of games?”
That was interpreted as a shot at Jackson, whose Cardinals finished 9-4 and lost a head-to-head matchup at Clemson. In fact, Louisville lost its final three games, including a 29-9 defeat to LSU in the Citrus Bowl. However, Watson says that isn’t the case at all:

With Watson heading to the NFL, his chances at the Heisman are history. However, we’re guessing Jackson is eager to get another shot at Clemson next season. Circle the date: Saturday, Sept. 16, in Louisville.
