Despite naming Seth Collins the starter, Beavers still prepared to run a two-quarterback system at Michigan

Oregon State head coach Gary Andersen named true freshman Seth Collins the Beavers starting QB after his performance in the opener against Weber State. However, Andersen and offensive coordinator Dave Baldwin will continue to use both Collins and redshirt freshman Marcus McMaryion at the QB spot.

Of the decision to start Collins, Baldwin said, "They've both taken it well. They're both gonna play. Seth is gonna start and he knows that, and he's gotta execute now. And it's harder when you're named the starter, I think, than when you're not sure until the last moment. But we'll calm him down and we'll get him going."

McMaryion, for his part, has been supportive of Collins but is ready to step in when needed.

"It's been fine," McMaryion said of the decision to start Collins. "It's a long season. There's still a lot to go. I'm supporting Seth no matter what happened. But it's a long season and anything can happen."

He continued, "I'll still be studying like I'm the starter."
