Will Muschamp isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

Hoping he reached into the fertile recruiting soils of South Carolina and unearthed a precious stone, the new head coach garnered a commitment from unheralded receiver prospect Diondre Champaigne on Monday.

A product of local high school Fort Dorchester, Champaigne jumped at the chance to play for a big school in the SEC. Prior to his South Carolina offer, his other two options included East Carolina and UMass.

"Me and my mom, we sat down [Monday] morning and we were feeling really good about South Carolina," Champaigne told The State. "She liked how the recruiting process went and how they came at me. She likes Coach Muschamp a lot. I was waiting on a big offer and I finally got it."

According to Champaigne's Hudl account, he's listed at 6'3", 175 pounds, and runs a 4.40 in the 40-yard dash.

Not only does he appear to be extremely athletic, but Champaigne's height gives him an advantage over smaller corners in jump-ball situations.
