Ducks' LT Tyler Johnstone injured in first practice, leaves on golf cart

Published Aug. 11, 2015 2:40 p.m. ET

The Oregon Ducks are sure testing their "next man up" philosophy early this season.

A day after it was announced that RB Thomas Tyner would miss the entire 2015 season after shoulder surgery, Oregon's left tackle Tyler Johnstone left practice with an injury. The senior left tackle left practice on a golf cart, unable to support his own weight.

Johnstone is coming off of two straight ACL tears and figured to be Oregon's starter come Sept. 5. According to Andrew Greif of The Oregonian, "The injury was not to one of Johnstone's knees, a source said."

Grief goes on to add, "The source added that the severity of the injury is unknown, but if it keeps Johnstone out, no position group knows more about 'next man up' than the offensive line."
