The Miami Hurricanes return home after road games the last two weeks and four of the last five. The Hurricanes enter Senior Day with a three game winning streak.

The Hurricanes took care of business the last three weeks to turn around the season after four straight losses. Miami has re-found their running game and the offensive line has been much better the last three weeks. After averaging 65.25 yards on the ground during their four game losing streak, the ‘Canes are averaging 176.3 yards rushing during their three game winning streak.

Mark Walton has also regained his form. The Sophomore running back eclipsed 1,000 yards for the season last week, becoming the third different Miami back to go over 1,000 yards in as many seasons. Joe Yearby had 1,002 last season and Duke Johnson 1,652 in 2014.

Walton averaged 133.6 rushing yards per game in the Hurricanes first three games of the season. Once ACC play commenced, Walton seemed to hit a literal and/or a figurative wall. Over the next five games, four losses, Walton rushed for an average of 49.5 yards per game. He has recovered to post an average of 118.7 in the ‘Canes last three games.

Duke enters the game 1-6, tied for last with Virginia in the Coastal. The Blue Devils were able to win at Notre Dame, something Miami did not accomplish. The Blue Devils should be fired up after the game was arguably taken from them during last season’s “Miracle in Durham.”

The Blue Devils have been mediocre on both sides of the ball. They rank tenth or lower in most of the ACC Categories offensively and defensively. They have had decent success running the football, averaging over 160 yards per game. Quarterback Daniel Jones and Running Back Shaun Wilson are both threats on the ground.

Mark Richt is likely to try and get some balance offensively. Although, Walton has been successful, the majority of the Hurricanes yards against Pittsburgh and NC State came through the air.
