Duke Football Loses Another Player to Injury, Ruled Out Indefinitely

Duke Football recently announced that the team will be without starting punter Austin Parker indefinitely after suffering injury against Louisville.

Injuries have decimated the Blue Devils this year with a high number of key players missing games or out for the season. Duke Football recently announced another significant loss to the team with starting punter Austin Parker ruled out indefinitely after fracturing his right clavicle against Louisville.

Parker does not have a timetable to return after undergoing a surgical procedure on his shoulder Sunday morning at the Duke Sports Science Institute. The redshirt freshman punter played a key role for the team handling punting and kickoff duties for the Blue Devils. So far this season, he has compiled 38 punts and 28 kickoffs. He is averaging 40.95 yards per punt which is the third-highest average in program history for a freshman and recorded a career-long 68 yard punt against Army during Hurricane Matthew.

Austin Parker joins a long list of Blue Devils to miss games due to injury led by QB Thomas Sirk and DB/KR DeVon Edwards. Hopefully Parker is able to return to action soon, and while he is out Duke will turn to senior Danny Stirt who recorded his first career punt and kickoff over the weekend late in the game against the Cardinals.
