Duke QB Thomas Sirk ruptures Achilles tendon, to have surgery
Duke dual-threat quarterback Thomas Sirk ruptured his left Achilles on Tuesday and is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday.
According to the school, coach David Cutcliffe said Sirk suffered the injury during team conditioning on Tuesday.

Duke says a timetable for the QB's return has not been determined.
Sirk, a senior, was the Devils’ starting quarterback in 2015 and completed 58 percent of his passes for 2,625 yards and 16 touchdowns, while rushing for 803 yards and eight touchdowns.
Sirk’s 3,428 total yards was the second-most in team history and ranked third in the ACC in total yards per game.
In 2015, Sirk was backed up by redshirt sophomore Parker Boehme, who has completed one of two pass attempts for his career.
This year, Sirk led Duke to an 8-5 (4-4 ACC) record and a 44-41 4OT win over Indiana in the Pinstripe Bowl.
