Duke safety Jeremy Cash was named the Jim Tatum Award winner on Thursday, the honor is awarded annually in memory of the late Jim Tatum to the top senior student-athlete among the league's football players.
Cash, who was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year earlier this week, became the first player in ACC history to win both awards.
“Jeremy Cash is more than a great football player,” Duke head coach David Cutcliffe told ACC.com. “Obviously, he has his priorities in order in regards to all of the different elements of being a successful student-athlete. He is a team captain and team leader. He is a great student and friend.”
The 6-2, 210-pound Cash has racked up 100 tackles this season and 18 tackles for a loss, while compiling a 3.8 GPA. Cash is also one of five finalists for the Nagurski Trophy awarded to the nation’s top defensive player and the Jim Thorpe Award.
He is the fourth consecutive Duke player to win the Jim Tatum Award.
