Elite 2017 Tennessee prospect decommits from LSU

Published Nov. 25, 2015 1:41 a.m. ET

When you leave your coach dangling in the wind, as LSU is currently doing with Les Miles, recruiting is one of the first things to take a hit.

First it was 2016 four-star quarterback Feleipe Franks, who decommitted Monday, and now it's elite 2017 athlete JaCoby Stevens who was decided to take a step back from his commitment to the Tigers.

“As of right now, I have reopened my recruitment,” Stevens told 247Sports. “I envisioned myself playing under Les Miles, coach Corey Raymond and having Austin Thomas (Director of Player Personnel) there. With not knowing if they are going to be there it just made sense for me to reopen my recruitment.”

A native of Nashville, Stevens was considering Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia among others before pledging to LSU. 247Sports ranks Stevens as a four-star prospect and the No. 1 athlete prospect in the nation for 2017.

How many others will follow suit before LSU comes to a decision with its head coach remains to be seen, but you can expect the uncertainty must be weighing heavily on the minds of LSU's current recruits.

Check out this amazing one-handed interception by Stevens and you'll see for yourself why he's so sought after:
