RUSTON, La. (AP) — A.J. Erdely threw for 136 yards and touchdown and ran for 76 more and a score and UAB defeated Louisiana Tech 28-7 on Saturday night.

After a weather delay to nearby lightning, James Jackson intercepted Erdely on the opening drive and gave the Bulldogs the ball at UAB's 32-yard line. Louisiana Tech's Kam McKnight ran on three consecutive plays, and the third resulted in a 5-yard touchdown for the early 7-0 lead.

Early in the second quarter, Erdely threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Ubosi to knot it. Spencer Brown ran for a 1-yard score with 7:18 left in the third, then sealed it with a 26-yard jaunt halfway through the fourth. Erdely added a 38-yard touchdown run with 4:35 remaining for good measure. Brown finished with 90 yards on 20 carries.

UAB (4-1, 2-0 Conference USA) limited Louisiana Tech (3-2, 1-1) to 258 yards of offense with just 107 through the air. McKnight finished with 15 carries for 80 yards for the Bulldogs.
