Ertz wins starting QB spot at K-State

Jesse Ertz will be the starting quarterback at Kansas State, according to The Collegian, the student newspaper at Kansas State.

Ertz, a sophomore, beat out Joe Hubener, Alex Delton and Jonathan Banks.

K-State opens the season Saturday at home against South Dakota.

A number of other sources are saying K-State coach Bill Snyder is holding off on the decision to name a starter.

“It was very competitive throughout,” Snyder said of the QB race on Monday's Big 12 teleconference. “I have a great deal of faith in all four of the youngsters. They worked hard. Those that had less experience in the program were diligent about learning our system and made amazing progress in that respect."

K-State is expected to release a depth chart Tuesday.
