ETSU sets Sanders' first schedule

(STATS) - A trip to Tennessee and six home games are part of new East Tennessee State coach Randy Sanders' first schedule.

The date for the home opener against Mars Hill has yet to be announced. The Buccaneers also will host Gardner-Webb (Oct. 6) on Homecoming as well as Southern Conference rivals Furman (Sept. 22), Chattanooga (Sept. 29), Western Carolina (Oct. 27) and Samford (Nov. 17).

Their first road game in ETSU's 11-game schedule is a Sept. 8 trip to Knoxville to face Tennessee.

"This is a tough schedule that will challenge us week in and week out," said Sanders, who has taken over a program that finished 4-7 last season.
