Evan Engram MIA for Ole Miss after two games

Ole Miss has gotten off to one of the hottest starts in program history, becoming the first team to score over 70 points in back-to-back games in over 20 years of SEC play. Despite that success, one key contributor has yet to make his impact on the season, as Evan Engram has one catch for five yards on the season.

How does Engram feel knowing he has yet to play into his team's gameplan?

“I’m not worried about it, not one bit,” Engram told OM Spirit. “It doesn’t matter how many balls I catch. We’re winning, I’m doing everything I can for my team. I’m here to do whatever’s asked of me. If I don’t catch one ball all season but we win games and we accomplish our goals, I’m going to be a very happy camper.”

The production is not due to the team going away from Engram, it speaks more to how defenses are playing the Rebels this season and forcing others to beat them. Something they've obviously been very successful with so far.

"And defenses are playing us pretty differently this year," Engram said. "They’re kind of accounting for Laquon and myself, making sure the safeties don’t leave me unaccounted for. Some safeties play over the top of Laquon, and we kind of play into that sometimes. Defenses are throwing a lot of different stuff at us. Our coaching staff is trying to see who else can contribute at the tight end spot as well. We’ve got a lot of versatile, good talent in there. Trying to get some guys in there and get them some snaps. We’re just taking what’s given to us.”

However Alabama is a different beast all together. They have the athletes to matchup with Engram and Treadwell one-on-one without offering constant support over the top. Engram will need to produce for the first time this season if Ole Miss has any chance this weekend.
