Expect another big game from Ronald Jones II vs. Colorado with RB Madden sidelined
Despite being USC's best running back this season by a wide margin, freshman Ronald Jones II hasn't been used as much as some around the Trojans program would like.
However, Jones will likely be the focal point of USC's offense on Friday night against Colorado. That is because USC interim head coach Clay Helton announced on Wednesday that running back Tre Madden will not play against Colorado.
Madden, who is dealing with a lingering knee issue, has rushed for 418 yards and five touchdowns on 77 carries this season.
Jones is likely to get a significant portion of Madden's carries, along with junior Justin Davis. Jones and Davis have about the same amount of carries this season, 89 and 85 respectively; however, Jones has out gained Davis by 290 yards and is averaging more than three yards more per carry than Davis.
"I've just got to keep doing what I've been doing," Jones said this week, per the Los Angeles Times. "Just make the most of my opportunities and do anything I can to help the team win."
