FCS games impacted by Hurricane Irma
(STATS) - Hurricane Irma is altering this week's FCS schedule as it moves toward the United States
The Category 5 hurricane, which the National Hurricane Center has termed "potentially catastrophic," was in the Caribbean on Wednesday and could turn toward Florida and come ashore this weekend.
The effect has been felt as far north as South Carolina as the Charleston Southern at South Carolina State game in Orangeburg was postponed.
Alcorn State's scheduled game at FIU on Saturday night won't be played in Miami. The game could be relocated or, with both teams not sharing an open week, played Dec. 2 at the conclusion of the regular season. That wouldn't happen, however, if either team qualified for its conference championship game that day.
Northern Colorado is making a cross-country visit to Florida for a game in Gainesville that has been moved up to noon from its originally scheduled 7:30 p.m. start.
Two other Florida FCS teams will be out of state playing road games Saturday, Bethune-Cookman (Daytona Beach) at Southeastern Louisiana and Stetson (DeLand) at Marist. Florida A&M, located in Tallahassee, has a bye.
Another FCS program, McNeese, is hosting Division II Florida Tech (Melbourne) in Louisiana.
