Feldman's Heisman Top 5: TCU's Boykin surrounded by RBs after Week 7
We’re at the midway point of the season and it’s becoming clear that it’s the Year of the Running Back. Not only has LSU’s Leonard Fournette emerged as the unquestioned top guy, but I’ve got four RBs in my top five now.
1-Leonard Fournette, LSU, RB: Undefeated Florida came into Baton Rouge sporting the SEC’s No. 2 run defense, only allowing 99 rush yards per game. Fournette ran for 100 on the Gators before halftime. He finished with 180 yards on 31 carries and two TDs in a 35-28 win.
3-Christian McCaffrey, Stanford, RB: This week’s highest riser put on a show Thursday night, carving up UCLA and looking like the Pac-12’s most dynamic running back since Reggie Bush. In his last two games, the sophomore has 399 rushing yards, five TDs on the ground and is averaging 9.5 yards per carry. On the season, he leads the nation with 253 all-purpose yards per game.
5-Dalvin Cook, Florida State, RB: The ’Noles stayed unbeaten and Cook piled up 163 rushing yards to go with four catches for 60 more yards. Cook averages 8.7 yards per carry on the season. He might be higher on this list had he done more at BC, where he was held to 54 yards on 15 carries.
