First half woes have doomed the Cougars.... almost

BYU has started games slow all season long, and previously under Bronco Mendenhall's guidance, that would have been a recipe for disaster.

Before the East Carolina game, a Mendenhall-coached team had never won a game when trailing by more than 13 points.

How quickly things change.

Now, the Cougars have two of those wins under their belt after the Cincinnati game.

“It’s amazing," Mendenhall said. "You can just feel the sideline ignite. We were determined and I think they were as well. I think what’s happening now is that we’ve been in the situation enough times that there's not a lot of doubt. There’s just optimism. I don’t know how it’s going to happen – the players might know more than I do. They just think they’re going to win which is really fun."
