Fordham hopes title road has home ending

(STATS) - Fordham is set to conclude spring practice Friday night with its annual intrasquad game at Jack Coffey Field.

If the Rams can handle the first two months of their 2017 schedule, they just might be wrapping up the regular season with a Patriot League championship.

The Rams play six of their first eight games on the road, including their first three league contests, but their final three games - all against Patriot teams - are at cozy Coffey Field, where they have gone 29-2 since 2012.

With 14 returning starters, led by Patriot League passing leader Kevin Anderson and All-America running back Chase Edmonds, the Rams have to like their chances after finishing second to Lehigh in the league last year. Edmonds, with 5,285 rushing yards over 37 career games, is on pace to surpass the FCS career record as a senior.

The spring has been about preparations for the potential banner season as well as second-year coach Andrew Breiner's four new assistants getting settled among the players. The new coaches are Tommy Galt (offensive line), Jon Guynes (assistant defensive line/recruiting coordinator), Stephen Pribble (offensive quality control) and Liam Smith (defensive quality control).

Fordham opens Sept. 1 at Army West Point, an FBS program it defeated in 2015.
