Former Alabama signal-caller Greg McElroy faced Cam Newton once on the collegiate level.

Newton's Auburn Tigers upended the Crimson Tide by a score of 28-27. Down 24 points early, Newton engineered a wonderful comeback against the fierce in-state rival.

While McElroy never got the chance to defeat Newton on the field, he's certainly taking some shots at him off the gridiron.

McElroy went on SiriusXM's College Sports Nation early on Tuesday. He spoke about Denver's win over Carolina, and then proceeded to go off on Newton's performance in the loss. McElroy in particular pointed to the play in which Newton failed to dive on a fumble -- instead looking apprehensive.

The current college football analyst also offered this parting shot -- again voicing his immense frustration over what had occurred in the 24-10 Panthers' loss.
