Mark Scarpinato, a defensive tackle from Michigan State, will finish his career in a new place with a familiar face.

Pittsburgh announced Scarpinato has transferred to the western Pennsylvania school where former Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi is head coach.

"I obviously know Mark very well from our time together at Michigan State," Narduzzi said, via an announcement from Pitt. "He is a very athletic player for a defensive tackle. Mark has great knowledge of the game. He has the mental and physical abilities to play both tackle and end for us."

Scarpinato's route from East Lansing to Pittsburgh was not a direct one. After graduating from MSU in there years, he spent a year in medical school at Wisconsin. According to Pitt, he will join the Panthers as a graduate transfer with one remaining year of eligibility.
