Four-star quarterback latest to bail on Baylor

Published Jun. 1, 2016 7:00 p.m. ET

Kellen Mond, a four-star dual-threat QB prospect, is the latest 2017 Baylor commit to opt to go in a different direction.

The San Antonio native, who plays at Florida's IMG Academy, announced the news on his Twitter feed Wednesday. Mond is reportedly leaning to either Auburn or Ohio State now. He becomes the fifth decommit of the six the Bears had committed since last Thursday, when head coach Art Briles was fired in the wake of the sexual assault scandal. Last Saturday, Baylor lost two prospects, including highly touted WR Hezekiah Jones. The 6-0, 195-pounder had been committed since last June.

Earlier in the day, the Bears lost a commitment from Donovan Stiner, a safety.

Those followed the exits of DT Jayden Peevy on Friday and Kedrick James, a blue-chip tight end. The Waco native decommitted hours after Briles was fired on Thursday. James had been committed to Baylor since last July.
