From RGIII to Bryce to Seth, Baylor's offense keeps soaring higher

Baylor has become an assembly line for producing sensational quarterbacks. From Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III to two-time Heisman top-10 finisher Bryce Petter to this year's edition, Seth Russell, the Bears' offense just keeps getting better.

Entering Saturday's game against Iowa State, the No. 2 Bears feature the most prolific offense in college football. Russell, in just his first season under center, continues to push up the various Heisman watch lists. He oversees an offense that is averaging more than 700 yards and 63 points a game.

Russell is throwing for 317.8 yards a game and has 27 touchdown passes in six games, 16 to wide receiver Corey Coleman, who has already set Baylor's single-season record for touchdown catches.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound quarterback ranks first in the FBS in passing efficiency (210.0), yards per completion (18.5) and passing touchdowns. What separates him from Petty, who won consecutive Big 12 titles after taking over for RGIII, is his ability to run. He's athletic, strong and fast.

It's all combined to make Baylor a popular pick to not only play in the College Football Playoff, but to make it as the No. 1 seed. And it's the offense that everyone fears. It strikes quickly and never relents. Here's how Russell describes how the Bears decide how they plan their attack for opposing defenses.

"We have a big board of all our plays and we'll just pick out the best that kind of fit the team we're playing against. We may throw a couple in there that may possibly work, we don't know, we're quite sure, but most of them are pretty patented, what we've doing the past couple of years, it's just maybe a different way of executing them.

We've taken that to the next level and we have to continue to improve."
